2024 in review: Client successes and milestones

Goodbye 2024, I’m glad you’re now in the past

I won’t be too far wrong to say that 2024 was a tough year for many small businesses. Amid economic uncertainty, the explosion of AI, political landscape, especially what is happening in Gaza, 2024 felt bleak and grey.

That’s why I’ve decided to publish my first year in review blog. I believe that even in the darkness, one can find glimpses of light to guide and strengthen you.

For me these glimpses of light were client successes and two personal milestones. So let’s dive in to see what my 2024 was like!

Client wins: Leads, revenue and improved SERPs

In 2024, I had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients across various industries in Australia:

  • freelance writers
  • a media trainer
  • family therapy practice
  • yoga retreat
  • a digital marketer
  • an Ayurveda practitioner
  • a strategic consultancy and
  • events agency.

Projects in 2024 were a mix of SEO copy and keyword research and implementation.

From my experience, business owners are waking up to the fact that they might be losing loads of valuable traffic because their websites aren’t optimised.

Together, we achieved some incredible results:

  • Media trainer (referral)
Optimised the client’s website and updated it with the right keywords, new title tags and meta descriptions, leading to two new leads contacting them for work within just three weeks of Google crawling the updated website. Just with these two new projects, the client made back what she paid for my service and more!
  • Strategic Planning & Implementation Consultancy (referral)
Helped boost their organic traffic with new users finding them through niche keywords, improving their visibility and client reach. I also advised them on how to optimise existing content.
  • Family Therapy Practice (in my network)
Drove 975 new visitors to their website over three months with numbers going up significantly since their website changes went live.
  • Ayurvedic Practitioner (Google search)
I delivered website copy and a template and prompts for a monthly email newsletter but also provided unexpected clarity for the client. This led to a complete revamp of her services to better align with her vision and audience. Her feedback reaffirmed my belief in the transformative power of clear, strategic messaging.
  • I also worked closely with an up-and-coming custom home builder to refine his tone of voice for his website copy. Through collaborative feedback and revisions, we created web content that truly resonated with him and his audience.

Website copy that achieved business goals

One of my favourite projects in 2024 was working with a digital marketer to create her home page copy in her brand voice, and a wireframe designed for:

  • Clear communication of services and packages.

  • Visually digestible content through strategic design.

  • Capturing key messages with clarity and purpose to attract ideal clients.

We also developed a lead magnet tailored to her audience’s needs, ensuring her new home page could do the heavy lifting: drawing in prospects and getting them to book a call.

Storytelling for impact

Creating a case study structure for an events agency was a rewarding challenge. The focus was on highlighting their strategic approach and showcasing how their events achieved ROI for their clients. It combined the art of storytelling with purpose.

In the B2B space, I collaborated with a new client to write a press release, case study, and flyer for their cutting-edge lab facility—showcasing its value to their clients and industry.

Copywriting, SEO and AI workshops for better content creation

In 2024, I conducted two creative and engaging workshops:

  • For an entertainment-style precinct, I led a session on copywriting, SEO, and leveraging AI for content creation for their in-house marketing team that struggled with creating impactful content. Lots of aha moments in this 2-hour session! The team also got a template with suggestions and ideas on how to create future content.

  • For a writers group, I shared actionable insights on how to DIY their website’s SEO, helping freelance writers take control of their online presence.

I thoroughly enjoyed sharing my knowledge with others and I’m keen to run more workshops in 2025.

Passion projects

Outside of client work, I embraced two passion projects close to my heart:

  1. Voiceover gig in Swahili: As a native Swahili speaker, I lent my voice to an Australian Government campaign that targeted Swahili speaking migrants.

  2. Finding Aisha: I completed the first draft of my second novel well before my deadline of 31 December 2024.

Looking ahead

2024 has been a year of client successes and meaningful personal achievements.

Helping my clients with clear messaging and achieving measurable results continues to be the driving force behind my work. Here’s to building on this momentum in 2025!

My word of the year for 2025 is CONNECTIONS. Every year I choose a new word to guide my goals and activities. It works well for me because it allows me to look at my schedule and choose only those activities that align with my intention. This year, I’m determined to go out and meet as many new people as I can – online and offline.

Publishing my second book is high on my list, as is writing more feature articles for magazines.

I also want to work with more clients who appreciate and understand the value of copywriting for their business.

Thank you to all my clients, collaborators, and supporters who made this year so memorable. If you’re ready to grow your business with results-driven copy in the coming year, let’s connect!
